Men’s Soccer Falls Short at Eastern

St. David, Pa. - The Catholic University of America men's soccer team suffered its second loss of the season with a 1-0 outcome in favor of Eastern University on Saturday afternoon.

The Cardinals battled strongly throughout the match taking seven shots and earning six corner kick opportunities.

Freshman Nelson Zimmerman and sophomore Brian Galfond each took two shots a piece while sophomore Andrew Laurenzano inbounded five corner kicks.

On defense, freshman Nick Battaglia and junior Corbin Brailsford spent 90 minutes on the pitch holding the Eagles to just three shots on goal.

After 83 scoreless minutes, the Eagles found the net when junior Billy Walenda got his head on a cross from classmate Colin Furlong.

The Cardinals stay on the road for a match up against Haverford College on Sunday, September 10 at 1 p.m.
