Boyds, Md. - The Catholic University of America men's soccer team opened Landmark Conference play with a scoreless draw with Susquehanna University on Saturday afternoon.
The Cardinals controlled possession throughout the 110-minute match and outshot the River Hawks 22-4. Juniors Corbin Brailsford, Brian Galfond and Tyler Martin took four shots apiece while senior Nick Joesten and sophomore Ryan Kennedy each took two.
The Cardinals took 11 shots during regulation and 10 in the overtime periods looking for the golden goal. With the momentum in its favor, Catholic got off five shots in the final two minutes of the second overtime period, including two from Brailsford, but the clock expired before they could find the back of the net.
Graduate student Zachery Tashjy made three saves and earned his third shutout of the season.
Up next, the Cardinals travel to Salisbury University to take on the Seagulls at 4 p.m., on Wednesday, September 27.
