WASHINGTON, D.C. - For the second consecutive year, senior Brian Galfond of the Catholic University men's soccer team has garnered CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team – District II honors for his outstanding work on the field and in the classroom.
This past season, Galfond led the Catholic offense with with 14 points on four goals and six assists and was selected to the All-Landmark First Team. The Gaithersburg, Md., native started 17 games in the midfield for the Cardinals. He recorded the gamewinning goals against conference rivals Scranton and Moravian.
Off the field, Galfond boasts a 3.81-grade point average as a mechanical engineering major. He has achieved Dean's List every semester since arriving at Catholic. Additionally, Galfond has earned a spot on the Landmark Conference Honor Roll each of his eligible semesters.
Galfond earned the honor a year ago after a similarly successful season for Catholic, notching five goals and three assists while maintaining a high GPA.
The 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-District Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team (if necessary) Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
