Men’s Tennis Defeats Merchant Marine

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's tennis team recorded its third consecutive Landmark Conference victory on Sunday with a 9-0 win over Merchant Marine. 

The Cards were individually impressive during singles play:


1. Juan Lorido defeated James Hicks (USMMA) 7-6 (3-0), 6-1

2. Brian Bradley defeated Christian Miller (USMMA) 6-1, 6-0

3. Cassian Utrie defeated Geri Villan (USMMA) 6-0, 6-1

4. Joe Peters defeated Karl Sasse (USMMA) 6-2, 6-0

5. Jason Quisberth defeated Jack Walsh (USMMA) 6-2, 6-1

6. Victor Casarotto defeated Derek Acuna (USMMA) 6-2, 6-2


Doubles action was just as successful with Juan Lorido and Cassian Utrie defeating Merchant Marine's No. 1 doubles team, 8-1.  Joe Peters and Jason Quisberth won 8-4 in the No. 2 slot, while Brian Bradely and Joe Trinity took the No. 3 win with a score of 8-1.

CUA host the last home game of the season on Tuesday, April 8 at 3:00 p.m. against Goucher.
