WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America men's tennis team stood strong in a 5-4 victory in their conference match against Elizabethtown College.
In the singles flight, the cards went 1-2 with the sole win by freshman duo Jan Lasota and Matt Holtschneider(8-6). The two and three doubles teams lost very tight matches 9-7 and 9-7.
In single action, 4 out of 6 victories proved to be just enough to claim victory. Three out of four of those victories were straight setters by Lasota(6-1, 6-3), Holtschneider(7-6, 6-1), and Al-Haqbani(6-4, 6-3). Purowitz fell short 7-5, 6-2 and freshman Rooney lost his match 7-5, 6-2. With the score set at 4-4, juinor Wilson fought back from a set down to win 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
The Cardinals now prepare for a weekday match against Goucher on Wednesday, April 15, at 3 p.m. in Towson, Md.
