Catholic Falls in Spring Opener against Mount Union

Hilton Head, S.C. The Catholic University of America men's tennis team opened its 2018 schedule at its annual Spring Break trip but were topped by Mount Union, 7-2. 

Catholic took home the No. 3 doubles match along with a comeback win at No. 3 singles.

Sophomore Kyle Weber paired with rookie Frankie Fortunati to halve their opponents' point total and go over, 8-4.

In his first action of the year, junior Ted Tiu started in the three-spot for Catholic and despite a slow start with a 6-0 loss in the first set, Tiu came back to take the next, 7-5, and win the tiebreaker.

Catholic will have two days off before returning to action on Thursday, March 7 with a doubleheader against Ohio Northern at 10 a.m., before taking on Wilkes at 2:45 p.m.
