TOWSON, Md. – The Catholic University men's tennis team was picked to finish sixth in the Landmark Conference preseason poll released on Friday.
The Cardinals, who finished 5-12 a year ago and 2-5 in the Landmark Conference, received 19 points, nine ahead of Moravian and Elizabethtown who were tied for seventh.
Three-time defending champion Goucher was picked to win again this year, totaling 66 points and six first-place votes. Scranton, who was the runner up to the Gophers last year, was second with 60 points and two first-place votes.
Juniata was third with 44 points as just 14 points separated third through fifth place. Drew (33) was fourth, followed by Susquehanna (30). Juniata won the title in 2015 after losing to Catholic in 2014. Drew won the first six Landmark Conference championships from 2008-13.
The Cardinals open Landmark Conference play at home on Saturday, March 30 against Scranton.
Catholic opens the season at Salisbury on Saturday, March 2 against Salisbury at 10:30 a.m.
