Cardinals Fall to Salisbury
CUA gears up for another match on Saturday
WASHINGTON- The Catholic University men's and women's tennis teams battled the Salisbury Sea Gulls Friday night but both Cardinal squads came away with 9-0 losses. The men's team drops to .500 on the season going 6-6 and 1-3 in the Capital Athletic Conference while the women move to 7-4, 1-2 in the CAC.
Despite the losses the Cards had some solid efforts from both squads. On the men's side, number two singles John Dillon (River Forest, Ill.) gave Sea Gull Brendan Kincaid a run falling 6-4, 6-2. Also playing well was number six single player Nikolai Wajda (Springfield, Va.) who lost to Sean Larson 6-3, 6-3.
For the women, Emily McGlynn (Tallahassee, Fla.) dropped a marathon match to Jenny Rosler falling 7-6, 6-2 at the number two singles position. Caitlin Dunn (Hanover, Pa.) was strong in the number six singles slot falling to Kelly Fahrner 6-2, 6-3. In doubles play, Maureen Costello (Neenah, Wis.) and Mary Wargo (Manchester, N.H.) took it to the wire against Robyn Wendell and Hannah Parsons who won 8-4.
The Cardinals will have little rest as they gear up for a match against Goucher at the DuFour Center on Saturday. It is scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
