WASHINGTON- The Catholic University men's tennis squad had a successful spring break trip to Hilton Head Island, S.C., last week. The Cardinals went 3-1 which improves them to 4-2 on the season as they begin conference play on Saturday.
The Cards started out with a 9-0 victory over Cabrini. Andrew Kracht (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) won two tight sets 7-5, 7-5 at number one singles to start the victories as each spot handily won its respective match. In doubles play, John Dillon (River Forest, Ill./Fenwick) and Connor Donnelly (Bay Shore, N.Y./Bay Shore) won 8-6 at number one while Joe Gribbin (Washington, D.C./) and Ian Pepek (Russell, Mass./St. Mary's) took the number two match 8-6 as well.
Against Wartburg, CUA managed the 7-2 victory suffering defeats only at number one and number four. Kracht won 6-1, 6-3 at number two and Mike Schinella (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) was the winner in the three spot by a score of 6-1, 6-0. The Cardinals took all three of the doubles matches.

CUA had a final match scheduled against Maryville which was cancelled due to rain putting their spring break record at 3-1. The Cards will begin conference play on Saturday as they host Moravian at 1 p.m.
