Spartans Drop Cardinals 8-1
Number one doubles is CUA's lone win
WASHINGTON- The Catholic University men's tennis team lost a tough 8-1 match the York Spartans Tuesday at the DuFour Center. The win marked the eighth straight for the Spartans but dropped CUA to 5-3 on the season.
The Cards lone victory came in the number one doubles match where John Dillon (River Forest, Ill./Fenwick) and Andrew Kracht (Sellersville, Pa./Pennridge) won 8-6. The other two doubles pairs struggled both falling 8-1. In singles play, Mike Schinella (Fairfield, Conn./Fairfield Prep) took it to three sets winning the middle one 6-4 but lost the first and third 6-2. Three players came close in one of their respective sets with Dillon, Kracht and Rich Sheaffer (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) all falling 7-5 and losing the second as well.
CUA will look to rebound with a Landmark Conference match at Scranton on Monday at 3:15 p.m.
