Nogales rewarded by Landmark Conference for recent play

WASHINGTON – A day after helping CUA clinch a spot in the postseason, senior Bernardo Nogales was named the Landmark Conference Player of the Week, it was announced on Monday.  Nogales did not lose a match last week, going 2-0 at first singles and 2-0 at first doubles.

Nogales began his week with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Goucher's Steve Baum on Friday afternoon and he then teamed with Jean Paul Roman to earn an 8-2 victory at first doubles in CUA's 9-0 sweep of the Gophers.

On Sunday, April 17 Nogales picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at first singles and he and Roman emerged with an 8-1 win at first doubles as the Cardinals defeated Juniata 7-2 in Pennsylvania.

For the season Nogales has won seven matches in singles play, including three vs. conference foes.  In doubles action, he and Roman have posted a 9-4 mark, including 4-2 in Landmark Conference action.

Nogales and the Cardinals have one regular season match remaining, which will take place on Thursday, April 21 when they host Susquehanna at the CUA Tennis Courts.  Action gets underway beginning at 1 p.m.
