Quigley finishes third in the 800 meters at Colden Invite

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Joe Quigley posted a 3rd place finish in the 800 meters to lead CUA individually on Saturday at the Frank Colden Invite, which was hosted by Ursinus College.  Matthias Arauco-Shapiro also earned a top 10 finish for the Cardinals.  CUA came in 10th in the team standings, totaling 11 points on the day.

Quigley crossed in 3rd place in the 800 meters, posting a time of 2:00.76, while Robert Leeson was 13th (2:09.32), Collin Roszyk came in 16th (2:11.03), and Austin Dyno was 20th (2:13.33).

In the 400-meter dash, Jacob Maclin came in 13th place (54.73), Alex Hetzel was 24th (55.80), Michael Kennedy placed 34th (59.42), and Nick Pavia was 36th (1:00.14).

Arauco-Shapiro finished 7th in the mile, crossing in 4:33.04, with Michael Spielberger (4:47.28) and John Brewer (4:48.03) in 13th and 14th, respectively.

In the field events, Shawn Brubaker came in 12th in the shot put with a throw of 37' 3.125"

Salisbury's 114 points put the Sea Gulls on top of the team standings, followed by Stockton (75), Rowan (73), Lebanon Valley (67) and Ursinus (49).

On Friday, Brubaker competed at the Widener Field Meet in two events.  The senior came in 6th place in the weight throw, with a toss of 47' 2.25", and in the shot put, Brubaker unleashed a throw of 37' 1.25", which placed him in 21st place.

CUA heads to Selinsgrove, Pa. on Saturday, February 9 for the Susquehanna University Invite.  Start time is set for 10 a.m.
