Catholic Posts Numerous Wins at Gallaudet

WASHINGTON – In its final tuneup before the Landmark Conference Championships The Catholic University of America men's track & field team earned six wins at Saturday's Gallaudet Invitational.

Junior Brian Seward set a new season-high mark and picked up a win in the 100-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 11.21 seconds.

Catholic went 1-2-3 in the 800 as rookie Joseph LaPointe led the way with a time of 1:58.71. Junior Patrick Jones was just behind at 1:58.97 while sophomore Peter Binck was third at 2:01.24.

Reigning Landmark Track Athlete of the Week Cosmo Pirozzi got the win in the 1,500 as he crossed in 4:16.10.

Sophomore Kevin Kuchler joined Pirozzi in the winner's circle with a time of 16:29.82 in the 5,000.

Sophomore field athletes Jake Marcelino (triple jump, 13.33) and Francisco Flores-Pourrat (hammer, 32.87) rounded out the golds for Catholic.

The Cards will have a week off before the 2017 Landmark Championships on May 6 and 7.
