WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America men's track & field team continues to rise up the Landmark Conference ranks as evidenced by its eight members earning 11 spots on the All-Landmark team.
Rookie runner Joseph LaPointe earned First Team accolades while junior Brian Seward, sophomores Peter Binck, Derek Chapey and Jake Marcelino, along with freshmen Dillon Frawley, Joseph McAlonan and Cosmo Pirozzi made the Second Team.
LaPointe led the way for the Cardinals as he earned the win in the 1,500 after taking the title at the indoor meet. LaPointe posted a time of 4:03.72, just 0:00.02 seconds faster than the second-place finisher.
Catholic added a silver medal performance in the 4x100 relay as the team of Chapey, Marcelino, McAlonan and Seward combined for a time of 44.32 seconds.
The Cardinals 4x400 team was just as impressive as Seward, Pirozzi, Binck and Chapey earned a second silver at 3:25.10, over three seconds faster than its season-best mark.
The silvers kept coming for Catholic as Marcelino finished second in the men's high jump as he cleared 1.88 meters.
Additionally, Frawley earned second in the pole vault as he went of 4.10 meters for the silver.
