Catholic Bests 17 Schools at Ursinus Invite

Collegeville, Pa. – The Catholic University of America men's track & field team opened the 2018 portion of its indoor schedule in strong fashion at the Ursinus Collegeville Classic. The Cardinals placed seventh overall in a field of 24 teams.

Senior sprinter Brian Seward showed his speed as he finished fourth overall in the 200-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 23.53 seconds. He also added a top-10 performance in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.27 seconds which was good for seventh place.

Junior Derek Chapey cracked the top-10 in the 400 with a time of 54.15 seconds.

Sophomores Cosmo Pirozzi and Joseph LaPointe finished fifth and seventh, respectively, in the 800. Pirozzi crossed in 2:02.15 with LaPointe less than a second behind him. The duo also went six-seven in the mile, again less than second apart from one another. Pirozzi finished at 4:39.80 with LaPointe at 4:40.12.

Rookie hurdler Mike Dreitlein finished fourth overall in the 60 as he crossed the finish line in 9.12 seconds.

Catholic got a second-place performance from sophomore pole vaulter Dillon Frawley as he cleared 4.10 meters. Junior Chadd Ziegler finished seventh in the event with a mark of 3.80.

Next up, the Cardinals will compete at the Widener Field Meet next Friday and the George Mason Patriot Games on Saturday.
