Catholic Looks Strong at Patriot Games

Fairfax, Va. — The Catholic University of America men's track & field team took on a strong field at Division I George Mason University's Patriot Games this weekend and put forth several top times and marks.

Senior sprinter Brian Seward led the way as he finished seventh overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23:38 seconds. He also was 13th in the 60 at 7.30 seconds.

Sophomore Cosmo Pirozzi and junior Derek Chapey were both in the top-15 of the 400 at eighth and 11th, respectively. Pirozzi crossed in 52.34, with Chapey just .65 seconds behind.

Pirozzi went on to add another top-10 finish in the 1,000 as he took seventh at 2:38.88.

Junior Chadd Ziegler led the charge for the Cardinal field athletes as he cleared 4.15 meters in the pole vault to take sixth place.

Next up, Catholic heads to Christopher Newport's Vince Brown Invitational on Super Bowl Sunday, February 4, at 10 a.m.
