Selinsgrove, Pa. - The Catholic University of America men's indoor track & field team competed at the 2018 Landmark Conference Championship at Susquehanna on Saturday and posted the highest team finish in program history as the Cardinals checked in at fourth-place.
Catholic got one its top performances from sophomore Joseph LaPointe as he ran to the silver in the mile in a photo-finish with a time of 4:24.63, just .03 seconds off the pace.
Senior Brian Seward showed his speed as he earned the bronze in the 400-meter dash as he crossed the finish line in 51.80 seconds. He also placed fifth overall in the 200 with a time of 23.25 seconds, less than a second off the pace.
Rookie hurdler Mike Dreitlein added a bronze for the Cardinals in the 60-meter hurdles as he finished in just 8.97 seconds.
Senior sprinter Brandon Johnston made the finals in the 60-meter dash and placed sixth overall with a time of 7.37 seconds.
Pirozzi also went on to take seventh in the 800 with a time of 2:03.87.
Senior thrower Dustin Vanella took seventh in the weight throw with a toss of 12.99 meters.
Catholic's 4x400 team also had a photo finish for the top-two spots as they got the silver with a time of 3:29.75 while the 4x200 relay team took the bronze with a time of 1;35.45.
