Catholic Wins 4x400 at Johns Hopkins Invite

Baltimore, Md. — The Catholic University of America men's track & field team continued its outdoor season at the Johns Hopkins Invitational on Saturday and got several strong performances including a win in the 4x400 relay. Catholic finished seventh overall against 15 teams.

The Cardinals relay team of junior Peter Binck, sophomore Cosmo Pirozzi, junior Derek Chapey and senior Brian Seward clocked a time of 3:26.02 as the won the race by nearly two seconds.

Seward also checked in with a fourth-place finish in the 400-meter dash as she crossed the line in 50.67 seconds. He also took eighth in the 200 at 22.65.

Pirozzi also had a top-10 finish in the 800 with a time of 1:59.72.

His classmate, Joseph LaPointe, followed suit and took 1oth in the 1,500 at 4:06.17.

Rookie hurdler Mike Dreitlein had one of the Cards' best individual performances as he took fourth in the 110 at 17.32.

Sophomore pole vaulter Dillon Frawley earned a silver as he cleared 4.10 meters.

Freshman Joseph Galassi added a podium field finish in the javelin as his furthest toss traveled 45.21 meters.

Catholic is back in action tomorrow as the Cardinals compete at the Mary Washington Relays.
