WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America men's track & field team uses several impressive individual and team performances at the 2018 Landmark Conference Outdoor Championship hosted by Elizabethtown to finished fifth overall.
Senior Brian Seward made the podium four times. He earned the silver in the 400-meter dash at 49.90 seconds and was joined on the scoring podium by junior Peter Binck who finished fifth with a time of 50.71.
He also finished fifth in the 200 at 22.78 seconds and was joined up top by Binck who took seventh at 23.54.
Seward also anchored the 4X100 and 4x400 relay teams to bronze medals. He teamed with junior Derek Chapey, freshman Brian Aberle and Binck for a time of 44.13 seconds in the 100 and Binck, sophomore Cosmo Pirozi and Chapey at 3:24.88 in the 400.
Senior Patrick Jones also added a medal performance as he earned the bronze in the 3,000-meter steeplechase thanks to a time of 9:49.70.
Sophomore Joseph LaPointe earned three points for Catholic in the 800 as he sped to sixth with a time of 1:57.25. He followed it up with another three points in the 1,500 at 4:03.69.
Junior Kevin Budd added a scoring performance in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:02.88; good for sixth place.
Field events also picked up valuable points for the Cards as rookie Samuel Rivard got two with a seventh in the discus at 37.25 while he also took sixth in the javelin at 48.57 meters.
His classmate was just ahead in the jav as Joseph Galassi finished fifth at 48.57 meters.
