FAIRFAX, Va. - The Catholic University men's indoor track and field team saw several personal bests against great competition at the Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason University, on Saturday.
Senior Peter Binck had an impressive showing today. He placed ninth with a career best 1:09.72 in the 500m and followed with a time of 24.01 in the 200m for a 17th place finish out of 31 competitors.
Juniors Cosmo Pirozzi and Joseph LaPointe both earned spots in the 1000m finals with Pirozzi leading the way and taking 14th (2:41.68). LaPointe finished just behind with a career best 2:41.82 to place 15th. Pirozzi also recorded a 12th place finish in the 400m (52.59).
"The men had a great day across the board coming home with 14 personal records against some really talented Division 1 schools," said Director Steve Rahn. "We used the meet as a training opportunity for some distance runners dropping down on to some faster events and some sprinters up in distance for more speed endurance. The team is progressing very nicely and proved they can step up to a challenge.
Catholic will return to action on Friday, February 1 at the DIII Invitational hosted by NYU.
