SELINSGROVE, Pa. – The Catholic University men's track and field team placed fifth at the Landmark Conference Indoor Championships hosted by Susquehanna on Saturday.
Junior Cosmo Pirozzi was the runner-up in the men's 800m with a time of 1:58.26. While junior Joseph LaPointe followed just behind to place sixth (2:00.84). LaPointe also scored points for the Cards in the men's mile run with a time of 4:39.21.
Pirozzi and LaPointe were joined by teammates, freshman Patrick Maxwell and senior Derek Chapey for a big showing in the 4x400m relay to win the bronze (3:35.38). Maxwell also had a podium finish in the men's 400m with a fourth-place finish (53.44).
Sophomore Michael Dreitlein had a big performance in the 60m hurdles making it to the finals with a time of 9.16, then finishing fifth overall.
The men's 4x200m relay team of Chapey, Maxwell, freshman Kyle Haase, and Michael Dreitlein scored points for Catholic with a time of 1:40.62. Haase also tied his personal record of 7.59 in the men's 60m dash to place tenth.
In the field events, freshman Luke LaRosa led the way with a fourth-place finish in the pole vault (3.65m).
