BALTIMORE, Md. – The Catholic University men's track and field team finished day one of the Landmark Conference Championships in fourth place with 25 points.
The Cardinals were led by rookie CeeJa Beckett. The sophomore broke a 52-year-old school record to win the men's long jump, with a mark of 7.06m. He also qualified for the 100m finals with an 11.19, the second fastest time of the day.
Freshman Patrick Maxwell will also be competing in the finals after running a 51.66 to place third in the men's 400m prelims. Senior Peter Binck will join Maxwell in the finals following an eighth-place finish (52.36).
Sophomore Mike Dreitlein placed fourth in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 16.16 to advance to the finals.
Sophomore Tim O'Brien also scored points for the Cards in men's javelin with a 46.70m throw to place fourth.
Catholic will return to action tomorrow for day two of the Landmark Conference Championships.
