Duggan wins two events, qualifies for NCAAs

NEWPORT NEWS, VA. --- Junior Sean Duggan (Spring Lake, N.J./CBA) won the shot put and weight throw and qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships next month as Catholic competed at the Mason-Dixon Championships hosted by Christopher Newport University.

Duggan's mark of 17.34 meters (57 ft.) in the finals of the shot put not only made him an automatic qualifier for the NCAA's, it also set a meet and facility record.

The junior was a provisional qualifier in the weight throw, winning first place with a mark of 17.17 meters (56-04 ft.).

Senior Mike Audette (Rutland, Vt./Rutland) earned a first place finish in the 5000 meter run with a time of 15:52.94.

Senior Peter Clark (Chalfont, Pa./Central Bucks West) took fifth place in the high jump.

The Cardinals will participate in the ECAC Indoor T&F Championships in two weeks, March 3rd-5th, hosted by Bowdoin College.
