Men's Track and Field Places Eighth in First Meet


COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. - The Catholic University men's track and field team traveled to its first indoor meet of the season Saturday afternoon.  The squad placed eighth with 24.50 points out of eighteen team despite an abbreviated team and many runners competing in numerous events.

Mike Doster had the best performance of the day with a third place finish in the 400 meter dash running a 52.58.  Also finishing in the top five and scoring was Scott Pospiech in the 800 meter dash finishing in a time of 2:06.06.  

Other top runners were Andrew Smith in the 3000 meters placing seventh with a 9:23.73 and Andrew Cvitanovic taking 11th in the one mile running a 5:03.87.

In the field events CUA had two top ten finishes.  Junior John Mason placed seventh in the shot put throwing 12.17 meters.  Jacob Herring was eighth in the triple jump with an 11.79 meters.

The team will take a break for the holidays before its first meet of 2007 at the University of Maryland on January 20.
