CUA wraps up competition at Landmark Conference championship

SELINSGROVE, Pa. - Matt Zemba continued his strong season for the Cardinals with a second place finish in the 400 meters, crossing in 51.54 seconds, to lead the CUA men at the 2011 Landmark Conference indoor championship on Saturday.  CUA finished sixth in the team standings as it wraps up its indoor season.

The 4x800 relay team of Ryan Anderson, Nick Pavia, Chris Derks and Michael Kennedy placed fifth with a time of 9:17.94 and Joe Funk, Zemba, George Brewer and Cameron Green finished third in the 4x400 relay, as they crossed in 3:39.63.

In the field events, Shawn Brubaker finished sixth in the weight throw with a toss of 42’10 ¼”.

Moravian was crowned the men’s champion with 230.25 points with Susquehanna next in line with 125.5 points and Merchant Marine Academy third with 67 points.  Juniata was next with 52 points, followed by Goucher (31) and CUA (20.25).

The Cardinals will begin their 2011 outdoor season on March 18 when CUA heads to Mary Washington to compete at the Battleground Relays.  Action gets underway beginning at 10 a.m.
