Catholic Places Third at Hood Open

Frederick, Md. — The Catholic University of America men's cross country team had four runners in the top-10 in a field of 121 as the Cardinals raced a to a third-place finish at Saturday's Hood College Open.

Sophomore Cosmo Pirozzi led the way with an eighth-place performance as he crossed the finish line in 27:47.7. He averaged a 5:35.6-mile in the eight-kilometer race.

His two teammates were hot on his heels, just seven seconds behind.

Pirozzi's classmate Joseph LaPointe and junior Kevin Kuchler raced each other at the finish line as LaPointe crossed in 27:54.3 and Kuchler coming just .6 seconds behind him.

This was Catholic's final tuneup before next Saturday, Landmark Conference Championships at Juniata.
