CUA rebounds from tough game one loss to earn split with Eagles
HUNTINGDON, Pa. – After dropping a 5-0 decision to Juniata on Sunday in a conference doubleheader, CUA regrouped and defeated the Eagles 7-2 in the nightcap. Following the day's action, CUA is 13-9 overall and 3-3 in the Landmark Conference.
In game one, the Cardinals started off strong in the 1st inning with Rose Shaver's single down the left field line and Nina Curto's single to right field, but CUA was unable to score.
The Eagles scored one in the bottom of the 2nd on Katie Schroeder's homerun over the center field wall.
Juniata added four more runs in the 4th on four hits and one CUA error. Meghan Decker started the inning off with a single through the left side and advanced to second on a single to shortstop by Kelsea Decker.

Paige Robertson reached first base on a fielder's choice and a Cardinal throwing error allowed two runs to score. 
Jasmine Assad's single to right field brought around two more runs to increase the Eagles' lead to 5-0.

Kerri Apicella suffered the loss for the Cardinals after pitching 3.2 innings and giving up five earned runs, while striking out five. Decker earned the win for the Eagles after seven innings of action and striking out seven.
The Cardinals regrouped for the second game and scored one run in the 1st. Amy Laughner hit a double to left field to lead off the inning and advanced to third on a single through the right side by Shaver. Taylor Stockinger then hit a long sacrifice fly to right field to score the run.
With a little help from an Eagles throwing error and a wild pitch, the Cardinals plated two runs in the top of the 2nd.
The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the frame after scoring two runs on three hits. Schroeder singled up the middle and was brought around by Brooke Walls' single to right field. Later in the inning, Assad hit an RBI single up the middle to cut the Cardinals' lead to 3-2.
Stockinger's second sacrifice fly plated CUA's fourth run of the game in the 5th inning.
The Cardinals closed out the game in the 7th inning, scoring three runs. Stockinger doubled down the left field line to score Laughner from third, Curto singled to left field to score the second run, and Mel Galella flied out to center field to score the third and final run of the game.

Tori Marcavage captured the win for the Cardinals after pitching seven innings and striking out seven. Aly Smith suffered the loss for the Eagles after giving up three earned runs and striking out four.
CUA will be back in action on Wednesday, April 10 when the Cardinals travel to Virginia to battle Mary Washington. The first game of the doubleheader is set to begin at 3 p.m. with the second game immediately following.
