Five Cardinals named to All-Landmark Conference Team

WASHINGTON- CUA softball players Nina Curto, Taylor Stockinger, Amy Laughner, Tori Marcavage, and Rose Shaver were all named to the Second Team All-Landmark Conference on Tuesday.

Curto finished the season with a .264 batting average, 32 hits, one homerun, 26 RBIs, and scored 18 runs. The senior first baseman also had 254 putouts and beat the school record for most career putouts with 835.  

Stockinger ended her senior year with a .377 batting average, eight doubles, three homeruns, 24 RBIs, and 52 hits. She led the team in batting average, slugging percentage (.500), homeruns, and total bases (69). At third base, Stockinger had 45 putouts and 69 assists. Last season, Stockinger was named to the Frist Team All-Landmark, All-Atlantic Region team, and beat the school career record for most homeruns with 20. 

Shaver caught every single game for CUA this season and ended with a .336 batting average. She totaled 39 hits, 11 doubles, 18 RBIs, and scored 22 runs. Behind the plate, Shaver had 201 putouts, 19 assists, and led the Landmark Conference in runners picked off with three. She finished 17th in the nation in sacrifice hits per game with .39 (14 total) and 48th in toughest to strikeout with only four strikeouts this season.

Designated hitter extraordinaire and right-handed pitcher, Marcavage, batted .244 this season with 22 hits, two doubles, two homeruns, 23 RBIs, and seven runs scored. On the mound, she struck out 67 batters in 81.1 innings and finished with a 3.18 ERA.

Lead-off hitter, Laughner, led the team in on base percentage (.435) and runs scored (35). She ended with a .370 batting average, 50 hits, four doubles, one triple, two homeruns, and 14 RBIs. She also stole six times and had 42 putouts and three assists in center field.  

The Cardinals were selected as the seventh seed in the ECAC South Tournament and will travel to Maryland to take on No. 2 Frostburg State on Wednesday in the first round.
