Softball Falls at Susquehanna

WASHINGTON – The Catholic University of America softball team ran into a strong Susquehanna team that now boasts a 12-4 overall record as the Cardinals were topped in a doubleheader, 8-0 and 8-1.

The Cards were limited to just one hit in five-inning game in the first matchup and despite seven hits to the River Hawks eight in game two, Catholic could only cross one run.

Susquehanna's pitching earned the game-one win as Jamie Fesinstine went five innings with three K's and one K for the win. Junior Alyssa Keane hit a double, but it was the only hit for the Cards as the River Hawks crossed eight.

In game two, it was 1-1 in the bottom of the second, but the River Hawks scored in the next frame and did not look back as they scored one each in both the fourth and fifth and four more in the sixth.

Both Senior Molly MacNeill and sophomore Rebecca Marks went 2-for-3 but aside from Marks' RBI in the first, the Cards could not cross another.

Susquehanna's Alexa Gonzalez went the distance as she scattered the seven hits with one run and four strikeouts.

The Cards will look to get back on track this Wednesday when they host Washington College at 2:30 p.m., in doubleheader, nonconference action.
