Catholic Shuts Out Roger Williams in Final Spring Break Game

Clermont, Fla. — The Catholic University of America softball team wrapped up its Spring Break play at the PFX Spring Games with a five-inning, run-rule victory over Roger Williams, 8-0.

Catholic put up a seven-run fourth in the shutout win over Roger Williams as they rebounded from a 4-1 loss to RPI earlier in the day.

Junior starter Kelly Lynch allowed just one hit and struck out four batters as the Cardinals return home to D.C., winners.

Catholic got RBI from six different players including two each from senior catch Alyssa Keane and sophomore third baseman Marissa Deblasie. Eight different Cardinals also came across to score.

The Cards struck first in the early game against RPI as rookie centerfielder Makayla Czan hit her third home run of the year.

It was all Engineers from there however as they held the Cardinals to just two other hits, tied it up in the fourth inning and went ahead for good with a three-run sixth.

Czan finished the game as the only multi-hit performer from either team as she added a double for her eight extra=base hit. She is hitting .442 on the season.

Catholic plays a road doubleheader at Frostburg State this Wednesday before its home and Landmark-opening doubleheader against Moravian on Saturday, March 17, at 1 p.m.
