Catholic Softball Splits at Stevenson

Owings Mill, Md. — The Catholic University of America softball team took a midweek trip to Stevenson and won the first game of a doubleheader, 9-5, before the Cardinals were topped in game two, 8-2.

Catholic jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first contest with a three-run second inning and exploded for five more in the seventh to help secure the win.

Sophomore third baseman Marissa Deblasie blasted a grand slam in the seventh while rookie centerfielder Makayla Czan clobbered a three-run home run in the second to put the Cardinals on the board.

Freshman second baseman Juliet Lodes went 2-for-4 with two RBI singles and added a run.

Sophomore Sabrina Scott picked up her second win of the year as she went six innings and allowed just one earned run.

While the Cards were tripped up in game two due a six-run second inning by Stevenson, Deblasie kept it going as she went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Junior shortstop Hailey Horton and senior designated player Megan Colline picked up Catholic's RBI on singles.

The Cards return to Landmark Conference action this Saturday at Elizabethtown for a doubleheader at 1 p.m.
