Elizabethtown, Pa. — The Catholic University of America softball team traveled to take on Elizabethtown in a Landmark Conference doubleheader and came away with the sweep, 6-2 and 7-3.
The Catholic bats were hot as the Cardinals totaled 18 hits in two games and got two complete games from their pitchers.
The Cards overcame a 2-0 first-inning deficit as they tied it up on a two-RBI single from rookie centerfielder Makayla Czan who went 2-for-3 in game one.
Catholic went ahead for good in the next inning as sophomore third baseman launched a two-run homer out of the stadium.
The Cardinals also got RBI from senior Megan Colline and freshman Giselle Diaz as junior starter Kelly Lynch took care of the rest in the circle as she went the distance and allowed just two runs with four strikeouts.
Catholic kept it going in game two with a three-run third inning to get things started and then added a four-run sixth to help seal the win.
Czan continued her torrid season as she blasted a three-run home run to get Catholic on the board.
Four other Cardinals delivered RBI in the game as seven different Cards all registered hits.
Catholic now moves into second place in the Landmark with four league victories.
The Cardinals now have a midweek nonconference doubleheader at Washington College. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
