Catholic Earns a Win at Washington College

Chestertown, Md. — The Catholic University of America softball team earned a win at Washington College on Wednesday as the Cardinals won, 9-4, before the second game was cut short due to darkness, 5-2.

The Cardinals put up a four-run fourth inning to take control and then put a three-spot in the sixth to command the win. Catholic started to come back in game two with two runs in the fifth but facing a five-run deficit, the game was called as light was a factor.

Three different Cards homered in game one as seniors Megan Colline and Alyssa Keane as well as rookie Makayla Czan all, went yard.

Czan and Colline racked up three RBI each while freshman Taylor Forgen added two as she went 2-for-3 from the plate with two runs in the first contest.

Junior second baseman Hailey Horton joined Forgen with a 2-for-3 performance as she added a run and a walk.

Catholic faced a 5-0 hole after four innings in game two but started the rally with RBI from Horton and freshman Juliet Lodes.

The Cardinal comeback was stymied however as darkness called an end to the game.

Catholic now has a pivotal Landmark Conference matchup this weekend as they welcome Scranton on Saturday.
