Cards Win at Hood in Regular Season Finale

WASHINGTON — The Catholic University of America softball team won its final game of the 2018 regular season on Sunday afternoon as they downed Hood, 4-3, in the second game of a doubleheader. The Cardinals were topped in the first contest, 6-2.

Catholic overcame a 3-1 sixth-inning deficit in impressive fashion as rookie Taylor Forgen got things started with an RBI double, followed by a run-scoring single by junior Rebecca Marks.

The Cardinals got the deciding run off the bat of senior Megan Colline who singled to score freshman Makayla Czan who had singled earlier.

Sophomore Sabrina Scott came on in relief to go 3.1 innings and struck out three for the win.

Catholic was topped in game one despite three hits and two runs from Czan. The Cards also got two hits and an RBI from the bat of Colline as they racked up eight total hits in the game.

The Cardinals wrap the regular season with 18 total wins, seven conference victories and the No. 4 overall seed in the Landmark Conference Tournament with game one set for 11 a.m. on Friday, May 4, against No. 1 Moravian.
