BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The number two seeded Catholic University softball team fell to the third seed Susquehanna University on day one of the 2019 Landmark Conference Tournament at Moravian on Thursday.
Freshman Marissa Bruder and junior Sabrina Scott led the Cards offensively combining for four of the team's six hits. In the circle, Catholic went to their entire staff with each pitcher throwing no more than two and one-third innings.
The River Hawks tallied six runs on three hits, including a three-run home run to take an early 6-0 lead in the first.
Catholic scored one run in the bottom of the inning to close the gap to five. Bruder led off with a single up the middle before scoring on a series of wild pitches and a throwing error by the catcher.
Susquehanna kept things rolling into the second, scoring three more runs on two hits, including the River Hawks second home run of the game. With two outs, sophomore Allie Lajeunesse entered the game to relieve Scott to get the Cardinals out of the inning.
The Cards had two hits in the bottom of the second but left both runners stranded.
In the top of the third, Lajeunesse and her defense then went to work, facing the minimum three batters.

After advancing to second on a walk from sophomore Giselle Diaz, Scott took third after tagging on a deep fly ball from junior Kacie Badolato. But with two outs, she was left stranded in scoring position.
