Cardinals sweep Salisbury at home

WASHINGTON – CUA evened its record up on Saturday by sweeping the Salisbury Sea Gulls inside the DuFour Center.  The women earned a 155-107 victory, while the men came away with a 136-126 win.

On the men's side, the 200 medley relay team of Caleb Capozella, Luke Granelli, Dominic Grillo and Brendan Reilly took first in a time of 1:42.74,

Justin Kenyon (10:53.06) and Josh Cutter (10:56.95) took the top two spots in the 1000 free, while Capozella earned a first place finish in the 100 backstroke (57.74), the 200 butterfly (2:05.74) and the 200 IM (2:02.11).

Granelli added a first place time of 1:04.51 in the 100 breaststroke and a time of 2:26.07 in the 200 breaststroke for yet another first place finish.  Grillo was first in the 50 free, finishing in 22.40.

In women's action, Gabby Giambagno won the 1000 free (11:32.66) and the 500 free (5:40.93), and Joanna Ladas took first in the 200 free (2:07.10), the 100 backstroke (1:06.21) and the 200 backstroke (2:21.08).

Rachel Berry was first in the 200 butterfly in a time of 2:21.35, with Giambagno right behind her in 2:25.11, while Berry also won the 100 butterfly in 1:03.16. 

Julia Wisler touched first in the 50 free, with a time of 25.37, and she added a first place finish in the 100 free (54.92) and the 200 IM (2:24.38).

In the relay events, the 400 free relay team of Ladas, Nicole DiGiacinto, Andrea Durbin and Wisler won their event, with a time of 3:53.97.

CUA returns to the pool on Saturday, November 19 when the Cardinals host conference foe Drew.  Start time is set for 1 p.m.
