WASHINGTON - Freshman Morgan James of The Catholic University of America women's swimming & diving team has been selected as the Landmark Conference athlete of the week after her outstanding showing versus NCAA Division II Barton College.
The Catholic women edged the Bulldogs 149-113 on Saturday with the help James who won all four of her races.
The rookie started by anchoring the winning 200-medley relay before taking the top spot in both of the sprint freestyle events. James won the 50-freestyle with a 25.51 while swimming her season-best time of 55.54 in the 100-freestyle. The Crozet, Va., native, rounded out the afternoon leading off the 200-freestyle relay with a 25.49 split to put the Cardinals in the perfect position for the victory.
"Morgan has been a big spark for us this year," said head coach Paul Waas. "She's a crucial part of our sprint corps and has improved our relays immensely."
The Cardinals remain at home when they host Landmark opponent Elizabethtown College on Saturday, November 11, at 1 p.m.
