WASHINGTON - The Catholic University of America men's & women's diving teams hosted the University of Scranton in the inaugural Catholic University Six-Dive Invitational. Both teams topped the Royals with as the Catholic men finished with a team scored of 130-34 while with women earned a 109-51 victory.
Catholic senior Joseph Soraghan led the Cardinals and earned the top spot on both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards. Soraghan opened the meet with a 215.10, gold medal performance on the 1-meter board and later captured first place on the 3-meter with a winning score of 198.60.
Fellow senior Riley Hawblitzel won the women's 3-meter event with a score of 151.35. She earned a second place finish on the 1-meter board with a career-high score of 159.53.
Rookie Patrick Fischer claimed third place on both boards with season-best scores of 139.95 on 1-meter and 138.75 on 3-meter. Sophomore Will Chester collected a season-high score of 126.45 during the 3-meter event while he scored 129.60 points on the 1-meter to secure fourth place in each event.
Freshman Christophe Sanchez-O'Brien rounded out the top five on both boards for the men finishing with season-highs of 110.40 on 1-meter and 102.90 on 3-meter.
In the women's event, freshman Colleen O'Callaghan captured second place in the 3-meter event with a season-best score of 123.83 and fifth place on 1-meter (116.25). Sophomore Mackenzie Earley registered her season-high score on the 3-meter board (117.75) for third place after earning sixth place during the 1-meter event (105.30).
Catholic senior Sarah Washington made her diving debut and rounded out the top-seven on 1-meter with a score of 69.53.
