Towson, Md. - The Catholic University of America sophomore Olivier Nguyen has been selected as the Landmark Conference Athlete of the Week, announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Catholic downed the Shoremen of Washington College with the help of Nguyen’s four victories. He started the meet by leading off Catholic’s winning 200-medley relay with a 24.53 backstroke split.
Nguyen later hit the wall first in both of his individual events with a finishing time of 54.30 in the 100-backstroke and 53.30 in the 100-butterfly. He capped off the Cardinal’s victory as the second leg of the winning 200-freestyle relay.
“Olivier consistently puts in the hard work and focuses on the small details,” said assistant coach Andrew Peterson. “The results of his efforts are starting to show and this is great recognition.”
The Cardinals travel to Randolph-Macon College to take on the Yellow Jackets on Saturday, January 20.
