Cardinals Split with Marymount
WASHINGTON - The Catholic University men's and women's swim team split its CAC dual meet Saturday against Marymount University at the DuFour Center Natatorium. The men won by a score of 120-83 while the women fell 117-88.
The men were led by junior Reik Foust (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) who, in his first action of the season, tied for first with teammate Dan Finnegan (Philadelphia, PA/Archbishop Ryan) in the 50 freestyle, won the 100 freestyle and anchored the victorious 400 freestyle relay.
Other winners for the men were freshmen Rian Foust (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) in the 200 IM and 200 backstroke. The 400 medley relay of Foust, Brendan Reich (Garden City, NY/Chaminade), Mike Hoak (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) and Chris Totten (Warren, OH/JFK Catholic) as well as the 400 freestyle relay of Foust, Finnegan, Kevin Cravedi (Bethesda, MD/Good Counsel) and Andrew Kalna (Stafford, VA/Mother of Divine Grace).
On the women's side, freshman Heather Alvord (Silver Spring, MD/Springbrook) continues her successful first year with wins in the 1000 and 500 freestyles. Other winners included freshmen Solongo Erdenekhuyag (Rockville, MD/Rockville) in the 200 freestyle, junior Katelyn Kenny (Estell Manor, NJ/Holy Spirit) in the 200 butterfly, sophomore Krystal Dole (Corbin, KY/Model) in the 100 freestyle and senior Liz McGinn (Kingsport, TN/Dobyns-Bennett) in the 200 backstroke.
The Cardinals are off until the Yellow Jacket Invitational December 1st and 2nd at Randolph-Macon College in Ashland, Va.
