CUA Men and Women Take Out Salisbury


SALISBURY, Md. -   After a 42-day layoff for exams and a holiday training trip, the Catholic University swimmers traveled to Salisbury on Saturday in their first CAC action since November.  The Cardinal women captured nine of 14 events to outdistance Salisbury by a score of 146-114, while the men also won nine of 14 events in their 151-99 victory.

The women were led by senior Liz McGinn (Kingsport, TN/Dobyns-Bennett) who captured both the 100 and 200 Backstrokes and led off the victorious 200 Medley Relay.  Her classmate, Erin Neill, (Centerville, VA/Centerville) led a sweep in the 800 Meter Freestyle.  Other winners included junior Katelyn Kenny (Estell Manor, NJ/Holy Spirit) in the 100 and 200 Butterfly, sophomore Krystal Dole (Corbin, KY/Model) in the 100 and 200 Freestyle, and freshman Helene Nicoletti (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield) in the 50 Freestyle.

On the men's side, freshman Rian Foust (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty) captured the 100 and 200 Backstrokes as well as the 400 IM, while classmate Kevin Cravedi (Bethesda, MD/Good Counsel) won the 100, 400 and 800 Freestyles. Brendan Reich (Garden City, NY/Chaminade) won the 200 Breaststroke and Mike Hoak (Hamburg, NY/St. Francis) won both the 100 and 200 Butterfly.

The Cardinals host Galludet and Hood this Saturday at 2:00 p.m.  Saturday is Senior Day and marks the final dual meet of the season for CUA swimming before the CAC Championships.
