Brooks wins 200 breast on final day


KING'S POINT, N.Y. - The Catholic University men's and women's swim teams successfully completed their first Landmark Conference Championship Sunday.  The women were second overall with 400 points while the men placed third with 303.

Lisa Brooks (Fairfax, Va./Fairfax) led the women on the final day winning the 200 breast in a time of 2:30.03. The Cards posted another first to up the point total in the 400 free relay made up of Lauren Wood (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks East), Samantha McClellan (Union Town, Ohio/St. Thomas), Helene Nicoletti (Haddonfield, N.J./Haddonfield) and Krystal Dole (Corbin, Ky./Model) who swam a 3:44.25.  Other top performances included Nicoletti with a second in the 100 free with a 56.12, Wood was right behind her in the event swimming a 56.30.  Caitlin Schettino (Babylon, N.Y./St. Anthony's) was third in the 200 breast in a time of 2:35.06.

The men posted four third place finishes on the final day.  Dan Finnegan (Philadelphia, Pa./Archibishop Ryan) was a third-place finisher in a time of 2:04.91 in the 200 back.  Brian Shelton (Annadale, N.J./North Hunterdon) came in at the three spot in the 200 breast with a 2:18.76 while Sean Murphy (North Attleboro, Mass./Bishop Feehan) placed the same in the 200 fly with a 2:01.99.  The 400 free relay team of Brian Jones (Brookfield, Conn./Brookfield), Murphy, Shelton and Finnegan was also third in a time of 3:21.34.

Scranton won the meet on the women's side with 599.50 points while USMMA won the men's competition with 633 points.
