CUA welcomes Susquehanna, No. 15 Juniata this weekend

WASHINGTON - After splitting a pair of road games last weekend, CUA returns home to face Susquehanna and No. 15 Juniata beginning on Friday evening.  The Cardinals downed Moravian in their first game last weekend, before falling to Scranton the next day.  CUA is currently the only Landmark team with a 2-1 conference record, while Juniata sits atop the standings with a 3-0 record.

CUA defeated Moravian in Pennsylvania last weekend, marking the second straight season in which the Cardinals won at Johnston Hall.  Prior to last season, CUA had never beaten Moravian on the road.  The Cardinals rode a strong shooting performance to victory, knocking down 11 of 20 3-pointers, good for a 55% clip.  Emily Grabiak led the way for CUA, sinking all five of her shots from downtown, en route to an 18-point performance.

In its last four games, CUA's bench has outscored its counterparts a combined 109-64.  In last weekend's two games, Holly Janicki (21) and Rachel Ferri (17) led the way for the Cardinals' reserves.

Kelli Josephsen ranks ninth in the Landmark Conference in rebounding, pulling down 6.8 per game.  The 6-0 junior has averaged 7.7 rebounds in her last seven contests, including a season-high 10 at Stevenson.

Sophomore Claire McEvily earned her first career start at Moravian last weekend and responded with 2 points, 4 steals, and 8 rebounds. She is averaging 5 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals in her last four games.

Susquehanna enters this weekend with an overall record of 4-10, including a 1-2 mark within the Landmark Conference.  The Crusaders went 1-1 last weekend, downing Drew before falling to Merchant Marine Academy.

Susquehanna has yet to win on the road this season and dating back to last season, has lost seven straight road games.  No Crusader is averaging double-digit points, with Korey McCaffrey's 9.1 points per game leading the way.

Ranked 15th in this week's national poll, Juniata comes into this weekend riding a five-game win streak.  The Eagles have lost just once this season and swept Merchant Marine Academy and Drew last weekend at home to move to 3-0 within the Landmark Conference.

Three-time conference Player of the Week Ashton Bankos leads Juniata in scoring at 16.1 points per game, while Kate McDonald adds 12.2 per contest.
