Cardinals move into top-25 poll, now ranked in two polls

WASHINGTON – Riding an 11-game winning streak, CUA moved into the Top-25 poll on Wednesday, with the Cardinals ranked 20th with 117 points.  CUA is now nationally ranked in two polls, sitting at No. 21 in the USA Today Division III Top-25 poll.

CUA won two more games over the weekend to claim the CUA Courtyard US Capital Holiday Tournament championship.  Kelli Josephsen and Josephine Migash were named to the All-Tournament Team, with Josephsen capturing MVP honors after posting a double-double in the Cards' semifinal win.

Josephsen is currently third in scoring for CUA at 9.4 points per game, with Jill Woerner (18.1) and Katarina Owunna (10.6) ahead of her.  Owunna is also the team's leading rebounder at 9.3 per game.

The Cardinals have outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 points this season.  CUA is holding teams to just 51.6 points on 30% shooting, including a 22% showing from 3-point range.

CUA leads the Landmark Conference in scoring defense, scoring margin, field goal percentage defense, 3-point field goal percentage defense and rebound margin. 

The No. 20/21 Cardinals are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they welcome Landmark Conference foe Merchant Marine Academy to the DuFour Center.  Start time is set for 4 p.m. and all of the action will be shown live on
