No. 13 CUA back in action on Saturday when Drew comes to town

WASHINGTON - Following a three-game road trip, No. 13 CUA returns home Saturday afternoon to face the Drew University Rangers.  The Cardinals received a career-high 22 points from senior Jenny McGann on Wednesday en route to a 77-74 road win at Juniata.  CUA led by as many as 16 points before seeing its lead trimmed to just one, but the Cardinals were able to hold on for their fifth straight win.

CUA and Drew met in New Jersey in the conference opener in December, and Katarina Owunna registered a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds) to help lead the Cardinals to a 66-49 win.

At 8-0 inside the DuFour Center this season, CUA enters Saturday's contest riding a 13-game win streak at home dating back to last season.  The Cardinals have won their eight home contests this season by an average of 16.4 points, holding teams to 49.4 points on 31.6 percent shooting.

CUA shot 35 free throws on Wednesday and made 26 of them (74.3%).  The 35 attempts are the most the Cards have ever had in a Landmark Conference game.

McGann is averaging 11.7 points per game in her last three, topping out with a career-high 22-point performance at Juniata.  The Pennsylvania native is shooting a healthy 52.2 percent from the field in those three games, including an even 50 percent from downtown.

After dropping three straight games in early January, Drew quickly rebounded to reel off three wins in a row only to see Moravian end that streak on Wednesday.  The Rangers are seventh in the Landmark Conference in scoring (53.8), but second in scoring defense (58.8).

Drew figures to have a tough time rebounding this weekend, as the Rangers rank last in the conference in rebound margin (-3.7), while CUA is tops (+10.2).  Courtney Stephens leads Drew in scoring at 11.4 per game and is one of four Rangers averaging at least 8.0.

At 8-1 in the Landmark Conference, CUA is off to its best start since joining the league prior to the 2007-08 season.  The Cards' 11 conference wins last season are their most ever.
