CUA up to No. 17 in this week's Top 25 poll

WASHINGTON – CUA continues to climb the national polls, with the Cardinals checking in at No. 17 in this week's Top 25 poll, announced on Monday.  CUA won two more games last week, including the championship game of the CUA Courtyard US Capital Holiday Tournament, to move to 12-0 on the season.

Following their win over William Paterson in the tournament championship, the Cardinals picked up a 67-30 win over conference foe Merchant Marine Academy over the weekend, to improve to 2-0 within the Landmark Conference.  CUA is now a perfect 6-0 at home this season.

Senior Jill Woerner continues to lead the squad in scoring at 18.2 points per game, while Katarina Owunna (10.6) and Kelli Josephsen (8.9) are next in line.

CUA is also ranked in the USA Today Top 25 poll, where the Cards are 21st.  That poll was last released on December 18.

The only unbeaten team in the Landmark Conference, CUA ranks first in the league in scoring defense, scoring margin, field goal percentage defense, 3-point field goal percentage defense, rebound margin, and offensive rebounds.

No. 17/21 CUA returns to action on Monday evening when the Cardinals face a stiff test at No. 18 York (Pa.).  Start time is set for 6 p.m.
