Grabiak Pulls Down Her 600th Rebound in 75-66 Victory

WASHINGTON - Cardinal senior standout Emily Grabiak pulled down the 600th rebound of her career with a double-double of 15 points and 12 boards, as four of her teammates scored in double figures to hold off the Crusaders of Susquehanna 75-66 on Wednesday in the DuFour Athletic Center.

Jayni Webster and Josephine Migash led the offense with 17 points apiece, followed by 10 points from both Melissa Errico and Michelle Desantis.

Catholic, who is on a 10-game success strike, advances to 12-3 overall and 5-0 in the Landmark Conference, as Susquehanna drops to 8-7 and 2-3 in the conference.

Wednesday's matchup was the second consecutive contest where CUA's ability to persevere was tested.   After committing nine turnovers in the first eight minutes of play, which Susquehanna capitalized upon to reach a nine-point lead, 21-14.  CUA regained its composure to chisel away at the lead on an 11-4 run to tie the ball game 25-25.  The mighty red and black continued to surge, taking a 41-33 lead by the half.

Susquehanna fumbled through the second half, recording seven turnovers for CUA to take a 14-point lead by the 11:09 mark.  As the Crusaders went 3-of-3 from the charity stripe bringing the margin lead to 11 points, CUA's Errico netted three consecutive layups to regain the 14-point lead, 60-46.

The Pennsylvania based foes received their last margin closure at the 3:18 mark, coming within four points.  In spite of their effort, Catholic outscored Susquehanna 11-5 in the final minutes of action for a 75-66 win.

Susquehanna's Jonaida Williams, who was a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line, led all scorers with 20 points, as Mariah Monahan recorded 19 points and Nikki Komara notched 13 points and 10 rebounds.
