Cardinals Remain Undefeated in the New Year, Streak Extends to Four Games

WASHINGTON – Three Catholic University women's basketball student-athletes scored in double figures to guide the Cardinals to their second victory of the New Year (9-4, 3-1 Landmark Conference) and tab their fourth straight win, after conquering the Elizabethtown College Blue Jays 71-56 on Tuesday night.

DeSantis also added a season-best eight rebounds, while Melissa Errico dropped five dimes and Power collected five steals in the win.

The Lady Cards reached a nine-point margin lead at the 13:51 on a three-pointer from Kristen Walheim, who finished the contest with six points and seven boards, but the lead was quickly tested by a 6-0 run by the Blue Jays. With the scoreless two-minute segment, E-Town came within three points.

CUA's DeSantis revived the offense on a three at the 10:43 mark leading to the Cardinals' 10-point margin lead with 7:48 remaining, before reaching an 11-point lead and a subsequent 34-26 halftime score.

Catholic increased its lead to 15 points after the halftime intermission on a 13-4 run ignited by Josephine Migash at the 19:07 mark, after which the Cardinals obtained a 15-point 71-56 victory.

As a unit, CUA shot 59 percent from the charity stripe (16 of 27), 46 percent from behind the arc (5 of 11) and 42 percent from the field (25 of 59).

The Cardinals are currently in third place behind the University of Scranton (4-0 in the league) and Susquehanna (3-0 in the Landmark), who are both tied for second place.
