Lady Cardinals Top Seahawks, 66-59

St. Mary's City, Md. - The Catholic University of America women's basketball team now sit at 3-4 for the 2015 season after handing St. Mary's their third loss of the year, 66-59, on Tuesday night.

Catholic junior Bridget Power opened the game with a layup in the first 18 seconds of play, but the Seahawks answered with a layup, and led the Cardinals through the through the 6th minute of the first period. A layup from Catholic sophomore Payton Smith tied the game and shots from seniors Josephine Migash and Jayni Webster gave CUA the advantage after the first 10 minutes.

Early second period shots made by juniors Melissa Errico and Michelle DeSantis increased the Catholic lead and the Cardinals took the halftime intermission with a 36-30 lead over the Seahawks.

DeSantis and Errico went to the net again, opening the second half, taking a 10-point advantage in the first four minutes. The Lady Cardinals outshot the Seahawks 30-29 in the second 20 minutes of the contest to earn the, 66-59, road victory.

Catholic completed 71.4% of their free throws during the event while Errico sunk a team-high 18 points. Migash put up a season-high 14 total points and DeSantis tallied 13. Catholic Junior Bernadette Launi pulled down a team-high eight rebounds for the night helping to guide the Lady Cards to their midweek victory.

Catholic will travel down the road to Gallaudet University on Friday, Dec. 11, to face Delaware Valley in the opeing round of the Gallaudet Tournament at 6 p.m.
