WASHINGTON – After a stellar senior performance, Michelle DeSantis of The Catholic University of America women's basketball team can add two more accolades to resume after being selected as a Fouth Team All-American by D3hoops.com and an All-American Honorable Mention by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA).
DeSantis is the third player in Catholic women's basketball history to earn D3hoops.com All-American recognition and second to receive WBCA honors.
A native of Trumbull, Conn., she also garnered All-Middle Atlantic Region First Team honors and Landmark Conference Player of the Year earlier this month. She is the only guard selected to the All-Region First Team.
DeSantis led the Landmark in 3-point percentage (47.1) for the 2016-16 season. She finished ranked number two in the Landmark for assists (118) and steals (62), as well as third in field goal percentage (51.7).
During her senior campaign, DeSantis posted her highest scoring season with 459 points. She put up double-digit points in 23 games, including a career-high 36 points against Juniata on January 28. DeSantis became the 20th member of Catholic women's basketball's 1000-point club. With 1414 total career points, she is the fourth all-time scorer in Catholic women's basketball history.
Additionally, DeSantis was selected to the Landmark Conference All-Decade team. She was three-time All-Landmark First Team Selections and led the Cardinals to three consecutive appearances in the Landmark Championship Finals and two NCAA Tournament runs.
